Open-cell ceilings create a continuous visual plane while leaving the plenum substantially open. Modular cells or blades provide screening from normal viewing angles, making these systems useful where designers want ceiling definition without fully concealing structure and services.

Do open-cell ceilings hide the plenum?
They visually screen it rather than fully conceal it. The amount of screening depends on cell size, blade depth, colour and viewing angle.
Can sprinklers remain above an open-cell ceiling?
That is a project-specific fire-protection question. Sprinkler location and obstruction requirements must be coordinated with the applicable design professional, code requirements and selected ceiling system.
Are open-cell ceilings accessible?
Many systems are modular and can provide access, but the method and ease of removal vary by product.
